While MINI may have given Cooper "S" owners a
literal boost over
standard Coopers there is no reason to be comfortable with 163HP. One
of the best ways to turn up the power is to turn up the boost.
The ALTA Performance 15%, 17% and 19% reduction supercharger pulleys do
just that. With the simple installation of this pulley and no other
modifications will raise boost 3-5 psi, and more than 20WHP.
With a 15% and 17% pulley this rise in boost pressure will increase
15to 20 horse power. No other modifications to ECU etc., required.
Customers with other existing modifications or those seeking more HP
the results can be even better with the addition of a header, intake,
intercooler and exhaust!

Design
The ALTA Performance pulley features a stainless
steel supercharger
shaft coupler with installation site aperture.Independently attached to
the supercharger shaft ALTA is the first to offer Direct Torque
Technology (DTT). The older design uses bolts to do the job of holding
each piece together, and compressing the taper. The Direct Torque
Technology (DTT) applies all twisting force from the pulley to the hub,
and uses separate bolts to secure hub to shaft. This reduces the work
the bolts have to do. Our new pulley is also designed to be completely
balanced with in .02 grams (better than stock), keeping your
supercharger bearings happy.
Direct Torque Technology (DTT) allow us to use
two different
materials without having problems with different material expansion
rates. Our hub is made of Stainless, and the pulley body is Aluminum.
The SS hub takes most of the force, and does the biggest job of
securing the pulley to the shaft. The ultra light weight 6061T6
aluminum pulley body decreases rotational inertia and overall weight.
Oversized belt retainers and grooved belt teeth, decrease the
possibility of belts jumping off, and increase belt grip. Cooling holes
are drilled into the belt retainers to keep pulley temps in check. A
decorative end cap faceplate provides a clean sleek look.
Ease of installation
Simply lift the engine, remove stock pulley
using the ALTA Version
2.0 pulley puller and slide your new ALTA Performance Version 2.0
pulley directly onto the supercharger shaft, tighten bolts, and your
done! There is no reason to remove the entire supercharger to pull off
and press on a pulley.
Some Unique Features
The DTT hub, and the way it secures to the supercharger shaft, makes
for a great replacement part for those who have had other pulleys slip
and cause damage to the supercharger shaft. Our hub can help when a
previous pulley has worn the S/C shaft down as much as .020".
Since the outer pulley is held on by 3 high
quality screws, and is
not responsible for holding the pulley to the supercharger shaft (like
the 2 piece taper fit), it can be replaced with a different size very
easily. Simply remove the ALTA cap, loosen the screws, and replace! You
could increase your power with a smaller size in a matter of minutes!
We don't use thread locker for a reason! Many other
pulleys use a
thread locker to ensure bolts don't back out. The problem with thread
locker is that it can create a false torque setting when tightening
bolt. And not be fun to remove. We have incorporated lock washers
which eliminate the need for thread locker, and allows for proper
torque readings when tightening bolts.
